Flashing

Chimneys, wall transitions and pipe boots are where leaks start. Re-using old flashing on a new roof is the most common shortcut in the trade.

Decking condition, ventilation, flashing and what the existing layers are. Free, and it is what the quote is built on.

Tear-off and deck check

Old material off, decking inspected, anything soft replaced and priced before we cover it.

Underlayment, ice and water shield, flashing, field and ridge, then a magnet sweep of the yard before we leave.

Metal or shingles?

Metal costs more up front and lasts far longer, sheds snow well and suits some rooflines better than others. Shingles are cheaper and easier to match on a repair. We will give you both numbers rather than steer you.

Can you roof over the existing shingles?

Sometimes it is allowed, but it hides deck problems and shortens the new roof. We would rather tear off and show you what is underneath.

Do you charge for an estimate?

No. Estimates are free on every job. If you want a rough number before anyone drives out, send photos and a description and we can usually get close on the phone.

What areas do you build in?

Fort Wayne and the surrounding Allen County area, including New Haven and Huntington. If you are outside that, call (260) 602-0054 and ask rather than assume.

Are you licensed, insured and bonded?

We are insured and bonded, and we are a family-owned company based on Keystone Drive in Fort Wayne. Proof of insurance goes out before work starts if you want it, and permits and inspections are ours to handle.

How do you handle changes once work has started?

In writing, before we carry on. You get the cost of the change and you approve it. Nothing gets added quietly and presented at the end.

I went through 2 other local contractors before finding Mike Bertoli at BGC Management. The other two never showed up to do the jobs and never called to explain why. They wouldn't return my calls to them after waiting all summer. It was quite frustrating! He called me when he was going to be 10 minutes late. How refreshing! He listened to what I needed done, and had an estimate the next day. He is very personable, and had great attention to detail.
